Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano made history by becoming the first two women to headline a boxing event in Madison Square Garden. The fight lived up to it's expectations, as Taylor and Serrano put on an incredible fight for the fans, with Taylor coming out with her belts by a razor thin decision.

Taylor implemented her pace in the early rounds, causing Serrano to struggle find her range. However, by round four, Taylor was landing more shots, but Serrano had found her range and was landing more damaging blows, leading to a cut above Taylor's right eye.
Round five, the two fighters come out and trade, Serrano continued to land heavy blows, leading to her causing Taylor to be hurt, Taylor survived the round, but Serrano had her hurt as she landed a whopping 44 punches in round five.

Taylor came out and fought fire with fire, surviving an onslaught from Serrano in the next two rounds.
Round eight and nine went to Taylor, as she got her legs back under herself, as Serrano looked as if the previous rounds had tired her.

The final round saw Serrano get a nasty cut as the pair threw everything at each other. The final minute saw these two superstars stand and trade, ending the fight in epic fashion.

Taylor got the split decision victory and after paying her respects to Serrano states: "Let's do it again, Amanda. I knew going into it I was going to be in the trenches at some stage. She's a phenomenal fighter, a great, great person. I have the heart to go with the skill and I knew I was going to be able to come through. What a fight, what a win, what a night."
Serrano heaped praise on Taylor: "She's undefeated and undisputed, I'm truly honoured to share the ring. Women can sell, women can fight and women can put on a hell of a show."

In the post fight fight press conference, Taylor revealed where this event ranks in her list of achievements:
“Everybody was talking about this as the biggest fight in women’s boxing history but I think it actually exceeded everything that people were talking about. This was a special, special moment. It was the best night of my career. I wasn’t sure if anything could reach my Olympic gold medal moment but that was absolutely the best moment of my career.”
