Cordina entered to a raucous oviation as his hometown came out to support their own. The champion Ogawa received a chorus of boo's upon entry, but the Japanese man lapped it all up as he held his ear to the crowd.
The first round was a cagey affair. Cordina tried to start fast but Ogawa shut him down by implementing his clear size advantage. Cordina began to settle in later in the round, but Ogawa had landed cleaner to take the first.
However, the second round could not be any more different. Cordina had composed himself and took control of the round. Cordina landed a sweet left hook which got the crowd excited, before detonating a peach of a right hook to flatten Ogawa. Ogawa attempted to beat the count but crashed to the canvas in his efforts prompting the referee to call it off, sparking wild celebrations from the Welsh fans.
