Boxing headlines have been dominated this week by the news of Conor Benn failing a VADA drugs test which concluded in his historic bout with Chris Eubank Jr being cancelled.
Before this news emerged, a major talking point surrounding this bout was the 157lb catchweight limit. People were genuinely concerned for Eubank Jr, as he was cutting down to the limit as Benn would be bulking up to the limit. A rehydration clause was reportedly added to the bout meaning Eubank Jr or Benn couldn’t gain any more than a set figure overnight as they would be re-weighed on the morning of the fight.
The fights cancellation was confirmed the day before the weigh-in, leaving fans unsure of whether Eubank Jr would have made the weight cut. However, Eubank Jr gave the fans the answer as he would post a video of himself on social media of him tipping the scales at 159.3lbs on the morning of the scheduled fight night, meaning he was within the rehydration clause and had made the weight.

The bout was cancelled on Thursday just before the press conference was set to take place. The joint statement from Matchroom Boxing and Wasserman Boxing stated that the fight is postponed and the reasoning behind the postponement remains a legal issue between the promoters and the board.
