All the gold will be on the line this weekend in the super welterweight divivsion, as WBA, WBC and IBF champion Jermell Charlo rematches WBO champion Brian Castano in California. These two first met in August 2021, where they fought to a split decision draw, which lead to this huge rematch.

Castano's first taste of professonal gold came in his 13th fight, as he took on Emmanuel De Jesus for the WBA 'interim' super welterweight title.The pair put on an action packed fight, which saw De Jesus hit the canvas in round one, before seating Castano in round two. Castano fought back to knock De Jesus out in round six.
After Demetrius Andrade vacated the WBA title in 2018, Castano was elevated to world champion. In his first defence of the belt, he travelled to France where he defeated Cedric Vitu with a 12th round knockout.
Next up, Castano got to fight WBA Super champion, Erislandy Lara. The two men put on a show, put the judges couldn't split them, and the bout ended as a split decision draw. In 2019, the WBA announced that they were stripping Castano of his belt due to him not signing for a rematch with Vitu, who was now mandatory challenger.
It was February 2021 when Castano next held gold as he got a date with WBO champion Patrick Teixeira. Castano showed his class and comprehesively outboxed and outpointed Teixeira to take the WBO super welterweight champion.
Charlo rose to the top alongside his brother, Jermall, and they both held gold in the super welterweight division, before Jermall set his sights on middleweight glory. Charlo got his first world title in 2016, when he defeated John Jackson via an eighth round knockout for the vacant WBC super welterweight strap in his 27th fight. Charlo's first defence of the belt was against Charles Hatley, where he produced a brutal knockout in the sixth round to retain.
In 2018, Charlo was dealt his first career loss. After three defences of his title, Tony Harrison was next and Harrison produced a seismic upset as he defeated Charlo via unanimous decision, taking Charlo's title away.
Charlo knocked out Jorge Cota in his next fight, before getting his rematch with Harrison. In the rematch, Charlo took the judges out of the equation as he dropped Harrison three times on his way to stopping Harrison on his feet in round 11, regaining his WBC strap.
IBF and WBA champion Jeison Rosario was the next man standing infront of Charlo, as the unification bout took place in September 2020. Charlo put on a dominant performance, dropping Rosario in rounds one and six, before going on to add the final blow and stop Rosario in round eight. Charlo now hel three of the major world ttles at super welterweight.
The undisputed bout came next, as Charlo and Castano faced off in Texas. It was a close fight with neither man yielding. After an action pack 12 rounds, the scorecards read 117 – 111 for Charlo, 113 -114 for Castano and 114 – 114, ruling the bout a split decision draw. It was a very close fight, with ESPN coming out and saying "If ever a fight called for a rematch, it's this one" following the bout.
Only one man will walk out with all the marbles in the super welterweight division, as the fight goes down this weekend at the Dignity Health Sports Park in California. This fight doesn't currently have a broadcaster in the UK, but will be live on Showtime in the US.
