Barboza Jr. was landing clean shots on Zorrilla, but Zorrilla was far from out of the bout as he was still landing shots of his own. The tenth and final round saw Zorrilla have his most successful round, as he would land more frequently than he did in any other round as he believed he was behind. Barboza Jr. showed great toughness and would survive the round. The scorecards would confirm Barboza Jr's victory despite the heavy onslaught from Zorrilla in the latter stages as the cards would read 97-93×2 and 98-92.

Barboza Jr. claimed post-fight that he wants a title shot next, but if he can't secure that he wants Teofimo Lopez: "My manager knows if we can’t get a title shot, then we want Teofimo Lopez. It’s either a title shot or him. Let’s see what happens, see if he wants to do it.”
