Former unified world champion Andy Ruiz Jr. launches himself back into the world title picture as he defeated Luis Ortiz by unanimous decision following three knockdowns in his favour.
Ruiz Jr. implemented his speed early but Ortiz would counter-act it in round one as the Cuban would display his power as he landed some heavy shots on Ruiz Jr. However, Ruiz Jr. would respond in round two as he would score a heavy knockdown. Ortiz would rise to his feet but this would not be for long, as Ruiz Jr. floored him a second time.

The pair continued to trade leather and it seemed apparent that Ortiz was still a very dangerous operator despite the knockdowns. Ruiz Jr. would send Ortiz crashing to the canvas yet again in round seven. Ortiz would recover much quicker on this occasion.

The final five rounds saw both men land heavy shots but not enough to send either man to the canvas, both men were swinging up until the final bell. Many thought that the knockdowns for Ruiz Jr. may lead to a wide decision, however, the cards proved close as they read 114-111×2 and 113-112 in Ruiz Jr's favour but the scorecards show that Ortiz is always a live opponent, as he has picked off the rounds.
