The bad blood between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall is still there, as the pair had to be separated by security at the Eubank Jr vs Smith show last night.
The rivalry was born last year, as the pair collided for Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight crown. After a fiery build-up, Taylor defended his titles against Catterall with many calls of robbery as many believed ‘El Gato’ had done enough to unseat the Scotsman as champion.
The pair have embroiled in wars of words over social media countless times over the past 12 months, but it reached boiling point when they met face-to-face.
Both men were in attendance for Liam Smith’s stunning victory over Chris Eubank Jr, with Catterall being local to Manchester and promoted by BOXXER who was hosting the event, whilst Taylor is trained by Joe McNally, who trains Smith.
Both fighters were sat at ringside, with two people between them, one being promoter Ben Shalom. A clip surfaced which saw both Taylor and Catterall verbally going at it, although it couldn’t be made out what was actually being said. Taylor would rise to his feet first, prompting Catterall to do the same as they were close to coming head-to-head before security separated the pair.

It was heavily reported that Taylor and Catterall were set to collide in a rematch in Glasgow on March 4th. However, just before Eubank Jr vs Smith on the air last night, well-respected boxing journalist Mike Coppinger revealed that the rematch has reportedly been postponed due to Taylor suffering a serious foot injury.
