Shakur Stevenson has been stripped of his WBC and WBO super featherweight titles has he was unable to make weight for his home coming bout tomorrow with Robson Conceicao in Newark.
Stevenson took to the scales and was 1.6lbs over the super featherweight weight limit and would be given two hours to shift the weight. However, Stevenson would not return to the scales, meaning he has been stripped of his world titles.
Conceicao weighed in within the super featherweight limit, meaning the belts will be on the line for only him tomorrow night in Newark. Stevenson has confirmed he will be moving up to lightweight going forward.
I gave it my all. I’ve been professional my whole career and made weight, but my body just can’t make 130 anymore. My health has to come first. I’m moving up to 135 in my next fight.
