Ryan Garcia has described himself as the best fighter in the world as he discusses his upcoming bout with Gervonta Davis.
The pair have shared a rivalry for quite some time, with Garcia claiming to have wanted the fight since he was 17-18 years old. Arguably one of the biggest fights in boxing currently is now a done deal as both boxers took to social media this week to confirm it.
In an interview with ESPN, Garcia boldly claimed he is the best in the world after stating he had to chase ‘Tank’ down to get the fight made.
“He was running from me, he was but like I said, I made it happen. The stars are lying perfect and now it’s time to show everybody I’m the best fighter in the world. I’ve been the best since I was a young kid, I was one of the best in the amateurs and now I’m here in the pros and here to finally start everything I’ve dreamed of.”
‘KingRy’ made his intentions clear as he confidently declared that he would beat Davis – and he anticipates it to be a great bout for the fans to see. The match up looks to be made at a 136lb catchweight, with both fighters putting their undefeated records on the line.
“If he doesn’t get knocked out early, this is going to be a war of speed, power at all times somebody could get dropped, somebody could get knocked down as you see when I got knocked down I got up and I knocked the guy out, so if something like that occurs this is going to be an all-out brawl, an all-out slugfest with speed, accuracy and IQ so I think this is going to be one of the greatest fights you’ll ever see.”
The fight that Ryan Garcia described to be a ‘slugfest’ is rumoured to be on April 15th in Las Vegas. Although the boxing world has seen a number of big fights fall through this year, this huge contest looks promising for now.
