Ricky Hatton promises to put on a show for the fans as he faces Mexican, Marco Antonio Barrera, in an exhibition bout on Saturday night at the AO Arena in Manchester.
The Manchester hero has clearly put in the hard work and Barrera also looks to be in good shape. The Mexican is best known to British fans as the only man to defeat ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed.
‘The Hitman’ shocked fans with the shape he got himself into for the exhibition with Barrera. Hatton weighed in at 159.9lb, whilst the Mexican at 161lb.
The two legends prepare to return to the ring and are intent on putting on a spectacle.
At the weigh-in, Ricky said:
“Me and Marco are two proud champions, we’ve done so much in our careers, and I think because of our styles we’re fans favourites.”
Hatton went on to say he doesn’t want any fans leaving the arena feeling they have wasted their time in watching a boring fight.
“We don’t want one fan leaving the arena tomorrow going ‘what a waste of time that was, that was sending me to sleep, that sent me to sleep, that was boring, that was rubbish.’
Me and Marco, that’s not what we’re about so we’re going to put a good show on for everyone tomorrow night. Trust me, you won’t go home disappointed like you’ve never done when you’ve seen Ricky Hatton fight.”
Despite their friendship and friendly weigh-in with the pair unable to control their laughter, the former champions are ready to showcase their skills once again.
The action will be live on Sky Sports on Saturday night and is not expected to be a disappointing night, like always for Ricky Hatton.
