REWIND: Carl Froch Claims He Would Be TOO STRONG For Canelo

Written by Jared Parry on 4th August 2022.

In 2021, Canelo was preparing for an undisputed bout at super middleweight with Caleb Plant. IntuBoxing managed to catch up with two UK rivals who competed in the super middleweight division, former world champions, George Groves and Carl Froch.

Speaking with IntuBoxing's Matt Lenihan, the pair were asked how they believed the other would get on against Canelo, and when Froch was asked how Groves would fare against Canelo, and in true Carl Froch fashion, he made the question all about himself and gave this hilarious response.

One thing Carl and George did agree on was that they both believed Canelo is not big enough for the weight, but the pair would be made to eat their words as Canelo went on to become the undisputed champion at super middleweight, and now embarks on world title glory in the light heavyweight division.

The full interview from 2021 can be seen below, and it is well worth a watch on comedy value alone.

How do you think Canelo would have fared at super middleweight in the Froch and Groves era?
