Nina Hughes has had two professional fights so far and has an unblemished record. Hughes made her pro debut in December 2021 and would produce a composed performance to earn a shutout victory over Claudia Ferenczi. Hughes would step up her opposition to face Bec Connolly. Connolly has been in with some of the best female fighters, but Hughes would make light work of Connolly, dropping her in the first before stopping her in round two. Hughes had her first two bouts in the famous York Hall but now returns to her hometown of Grays as she looks to pick up her first title.
Gallagher has had four bouts as a pro. She made her pro debut in October 2021 and would defeat Vanesa Caballero on points, even sending Caballero to the canvas in round two. Gallagher would return a month later and would pick up another points victory, this time over Gemma Ruegg. Gallagher would next square off with Hughes' debut opponent Claudia Ferenczi, and like Hughes, Gallagher would earn a shut-out victory. Last time out, Gallagher defeated Jamileth Vallejos on points, Gallagher won every round, and her lead was extended further by Vallejos being deducted two points for hitting after a break was called.
The undercard features a big clash for the vacant English cruiserweight title as undefeated Iain Martell faces former Commonwealth champion, Luke Watkins. Martell comes into this bout with a record of 11-0, with his last victory coming in 2021 when he stopped Erik Nazaryan in one round. Watkins comes into this fight off the back of two wins that followed his defeat to Isaac Chamberlain in 2018. Last time out, Watkins stopped Tyrone Williams in one round back in September 2021.
Super welterweight Inder Bassi Singh returns and looks to add his seventh victory to his record this weekend as he squares off with Justin Menzie over six rounds. Super bantamweight Ben Lilley will look to extend his record to 4-0 as he meets Mikey Young over six.
Super welterweight Aram Amirkhanyan returns following his knockout victory in America last time out as he squares off with Petar Aleksandrov. Another talented super welterweight, Paul Ryan will look to impress in his fifth bout as he faces Alexander Zeledon. Finally, middleweight prospect Adam Belaila returns as he looks to move to 3-0.
A very solid offering of boxing this Saturday night in the Civic Hall in Grays, as Hughes and Gallagher take centre stage. The fight night is streamed live on the FightZone app and it promises to be an entertaining night of boxing.
