One of boxing’s current dream fights is nearing completion, as Gervonta Davis is set to meet Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas on April 15th.
Davis and Garcia have been on a collision course to face each other, and Las Vegas is set to host their battle.
BoxingScene has reported that Premier Boxing Champions are exploring the viability of bringing this all-American blockbuster to the home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, Allegiant Stadium.
Boxing has not yet taken place in the Allegiant Stadium since opening in 2020, but the venue holds over 70,000. Fights often take place in Las Vegas and the two usual venues are the T-Mobile Arena or the MGM Grand Garden Arena, so if Davis and Garcia meet in the Allegiant Stadium, they could open the door to more major fights taking place in a massive venue in the “fight capital of the world.”
The bout is not yet a done deal, but both men have claimed to have agreed a deal. The fight is set to land on Showtime Pay-per-view in the US and has certainly earned its place on a pay-per-view platform.
The two ultra-talented young men have set the lightweight division alight with their eye-catching performances and meteoric rise to stardom.
Davis currently holds the WBA lightweight title and successfully defended it in January this year, defeating Hector Luis Garcia. ‘Tank’ is also a two-weight world champion, previously holding the IBF super-featherweight title.
Garcia is yet to win world honors, but he is on the right path. ‘King Ry’ has caught the eye of fans with his blistering hand speed and underrated power. Garcia was last seen in July when he stopped Javier Fortuna.
The dream-fight is yet to be confirmed, but it all seems to be heading in the right direction to land on April 15th.
