Tension overspilled at today’s fiery weigh-in between Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner, as Mayer kicked out at Baumgardner.
IBF and WBO super featherweight champion Mayer looks to unify the division when she collides with WBC champion Baumgardner on the undercard of the much-anticipated clash between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall.
Mayer and Baumgardner have been pulled apart on two occasions on fight week. Firstly, the pair participated in a face-off for Sky Sports which saw tensions boil over and result in security having to step in. The press conference saw a similar sight, as the pair got too close in the face-off, prompting security to once again separate the champions.
The final time they met on fight week would be even tenser, as both weighed in at 9st 3lbs 5oz before coming face-to-face for the final time. The pair would yet again get up close and begin to trade vicious verbals. Yet again, security would intervene, but as they did, Baumgardner would appear to push Mayer, sparking outrage from the IBF and WBO champion as she attempted to kick Baumgardner.

Mayer and Baumgardner look to the steal the show this Saturday night at the O2 Arena, as the winner would look to challenge the only other champion in the division, the WBA champion, Hyun-Mi Choi.
