McKeown established his range early and kept John at the end of his jab, and continued to control the pace as he was in enemy territory. John produced some flurries of excellence, but it was not enough to deter McKeown's fine form, as John's footwork looked spot on, but McKeown worked the body well to put it out of shape.

Going into the tenth and final round, John was aware that a stoppage would be the only real possibility to get a victory, but McKeown matched him and ended a thrilling tenth round seemingly on top. The scorecards confirmed John's first career defeat as they read 96-95×2 and 96-94 in McKeown's favour. The scorecards suggested that the fight seemed slightly closer than it was.

The undercard saw two new Welsh champions crowned. Firstly in the welterweight division, as Lloyd Germain put on an outstanding display to outpoint Jake Tinklin 99-92 in a well matched fight between two previously unbeaten fighters.

The other Welsh title bout on the card took place in the middleweight division. Gerome Warburton would be successful as he outpointed Morgan Jones 97-94, in yet another 50/50 bout. Warburton now throws his name into middleweight domestic mix as he produced a fine display, although surviving a late onslaught from Jones in the final round.

Nathan Howells moved to 4-0 as he produced a shutout victory over debutant Tatenda Mangombe. Tom James also extended his undefeated record following a shutout win over Karl Sampson.

Moses Jolly hit the ground running as a pro as he outpointed Lamah Griggs on his debut. James Atkins also picked up a points win moving to 2-0.

Finally, Ryan Pocock put his debut defeat behind him, as he put his first mark in his win column with a shutout victory over Seamus Devlin.
