Leigh Wood steps straight back into a tough fight as he faces Mexican danger man Mauricio Lara in his second defence of his WBA featherweight title in Nottingham on Spetember 24th.
Last time out, Wood was involved in one of the best fights of the year when he overcame a heavy first round knockdown to stop Michael Conlan in the 12th round of a truly epic encounter.
Lara is well known for providing one of the biggest upsets on these shores when he stopped Josh Warrington in 2021. Since then, Lara has rematched Warrington but it ended in a technical draw due to an accidental head clash in round two. Lara then fought Emilio Sanchez in San Diego, a fight in which Lara stopped Sanchez in three rounds.
Two fights have been announced for the undercard so far. Hannah Rankin defends her WBA and IBO world titles against former champion, Terri Harper. The other fight confirmed is Maxi Hughes making the second defence of his IBO lightweight title against former IBF featherweight champion, Kid Galahad.
This stacked night of boxing takes place at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on September 24th, streamed live and exclusive on DAZN.
