Kevin Lerena Names His Top 5 Heavyweights – Big Names NOT Included

Written by Jared Parry on 5th November 2022.

Kevin Lerena (28-1) faces WBA ‘Regular’ heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (18-1) on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s trilogy clash with Derek Chisora next month and has revealed his top five current heavyweights.

Lerena spoke about his upcoming clash with Dubois with Queensberry Promotions and would give his verdict on the heavyweight division, where he named his top five heavyweights, and a few notable names, including his upcoming opponent, were absent from the list.

To be honest, the top five [Heavyweights] in the world right now Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk.

I like [Andy] Ruiz, Joe Joyce and possibly number five, the very avoided that needs an opportunity is Martin Bakole.

He [Bakole] is very strong, man.

Bakole is a name that isn’t mentioned often when it comes to the top five heavyweights in the world, but his victory over Olympic gold medallist Tony Yoka earlier this year cannot be ignored.

Former unified world champion Anthony Joshua is a shock omission from the South African heavyweights list, as is former WBC champion, Deontay Wilder who recently returned with a thunderous knockout over Robert Helenius.

Lerena’s clash with Dubois is approaching fast, as they meet as the chief support at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 3rd, live on BT Sports Box Office. The full interview with Queensberry Promotions can be watched here.
