Katie Taylor (21-0) returns to defend her undisputed lightweight crown against her mandatory challenger Karen Elizabeth Carabajal (19-0) at the OVO Arena, Wembley.
The Irish sporting sensation will face Carabajal in the arena that played host to chapter one of her professional career, where she defeated Karina Kopinska back in 2016.
Taylor is coming off the back of the biggest victory of her career, as she defended her undisputed crown against Amanda Serrano in a historic bout which saw two women headline a card at Madison Square Garden. The two ladies put on a tremendous show which saw Taylor overcoming adversity to edge Serrano out by split decision in a legacy-defining bout.
Taylor has been involved in some of the biggest fights in the revolution of female boxing. Her two bouts with Delfine Persoon were seen as some of the greatest fights in female boxing. The Irish great is also a two-weight world champion, as she stepped up to super-lightweight in 2019 to defeat Christina Linardatou for the WBO title.
Carabajal will be entering this bout with an undefeated record. The Argentinian will fight outside of her home country for the first time, as all 19 of her victories have come in Argentina. Carabajal currently has two knockouts on her record, and both of them came within her last three fights, as she stopped Flavia Gimena Quintero and Cinta Gisela Castillo in the final round of their fights. Last time out, Carabajal defeated Lorena Edith Agoutborde on points over six rounds.
Taylor has expressed a desire to bring a huge fight night back to her hometown of Dublin and talks of a huge night at Croke Park were speculated, but Taylor can’t afford to look past her mandatory opponent Carabajal to potentially set up a dream fight night in Dublin. The two meet this Saturday at the OVO Arena, Wembley and can be watched live on DAZN.
