Katie Taylor oozed class when she produced a wide points victory over mandatory challenger Karen Carabajal at the OVO Arena, Wembley.
Taylor showed her supreme skills that have gotten her so far in her 22-fight career to show she was a level above Carabajal.
Taylor received a deserved hero’s welcome in the arena where she made her pro debut back in 2016. The Irish icon would start fast, throwing lightning combinations and displaying slick defensive skills to avoid Carabajal’s shots.
Carabajal was tough and kept coming forward, the Argentine clearly had the height and reach advantage, but the undisputed champion nullified her advantages, as every time Carabajal came into range, the champion would throw blistering combinations roughing up Carabajal, but not manage to hurt the Argentine.

The fourth round saw the pair tee off on the ropes, with the champion getting the better of the exchange, Carabajal kept throwing big shots, but Taylor always had the answer that slowed Carabajal’s work.

It was a similar sight for the next few rounds, and come round 10, it was fairly clear that Taylor had a healthy lead. The pair met head-on in the final round, but it was once again the Irish woman who came out on top.

The final bell rang, and it was a matter of time before Taylor was going to be crowned the winner. The scorecards read 100-91, 99-91 and 98-92 all in favour of the champion, who remains undefeated.
The Irish woman confirmed that she wants a homecoming next, and promoter Eddie Hearn has said that he is clamouring to make the Amanda Serrano rematch at Croke Park in Ireland, as the pair put on a spectacle at Madison Square Garden back in April.
