Wow! Another top boxing event put on by TOP Boxing (Tommy Owens Promotions). Tonight was the first time they have put on a show at Planet Ice in Solihull and it didn't disappoint.
Headlining the event was a Midland Title fight between the defending champion Ishmael Ellis and Joe Ducker. On the whole card there was 10 fights in total.
Ellis was making the first defence of his title, that he won against Louis Fielding in April, and Ducker was having his first title opportunity.
The fight went the full ten round distance with Ducker being strong all the way through, and landing jabs at will. Ellis struggled to stamp authority on the fight, but whilst fighting on the inside always had a chance.
Both men was cut during a gruelling battle, and the referee, Sean Mercer scored the contest 98-94 to Ducker. And we have a new Midlands Champion.
The rest of the card was as thrilling as the main event.
Scott Melvin made his return, following his defeat to Dylan Cheema in the Boxxer tournament in Coventry. Melvin fought over a 6 round distance and won by points decision. The Terrier, moved his professional record to 5-2.
In the other fights, there were wins for Bradley Goldsmith, Nyall Berry, Danny Quartermaine, Musa Moyo, Saqib Khan, Kyle Haywood and Brad Bethell.
Overall, after a few teething problems with the microphone at the start of the night, the atmosphere was sensational, the action was faultless and the venue was perfect.
We will definitely be attending the next show.
