In a tweet that has gained over 100,000 likes at the time of writing, Jake Paul has teased a fight with hugely controversial internet personality and former kickboxer, Andrew Tate.
Paul is coming off a career-best win over Brazilian UFC legend, Anderson Silva, to take him to 6-0 as a professional. Despite that, his detractors continue to make the argument that he’s not faced a proper boxer. Until he does, it seems like many in the community refuse to get on board the hype train, even although boxers like Cruiserweight World Champion, Lawrence Okolie, are behind him.
This announcement then – joke or otherwise – will do nothing to appease that camp. Andrew Tate is perhaps best known for being banned from major social media platforms. The former Big Brother UK contestant is also a former kickboxer, with a reported impressive record of 76 winds from 85 fights. He has a mixed martial arts record of 2 wins and 1 loss.
Tate most recently made headlines not for fighting, but for being a self-proclaimed sexist and misogynist whose comments on women and their role in society caused widespread offence and condemnation. Despite the negative press, Paul has added him to the list of potential opponents.

Whilst the video is most likely just a conversation started, if it’s not it represents a move from Paul that shows he may not care about his reputation in the sport. With names like Tommy Fury calling him out for a fight, many fans feel that going the Tate route would show that the young fighter from Cleveland is in it purely for the buzz and the money, rather than mounting a successful campaign with the end goal being belts.
