Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather

Jake Paul Claims Mayweather Wouldn’t Fight Until He Left The Arena

Written by Libby Baker on 15th November 2022.

Jake Paul’s team claimed Floyd Mayweather would begin his exhibition against YouTuber Deji, brother of KSI, until the controversial fighter left the arena

Paul has become a hot topic in the boxing scene, particularly after the event in Dubai which saw him ringside for Tommy Fury’s fight with last minute opponent, Rolly Lambert. After ‘TNT’ Fury won, he and his father, John Fury, had heated arguments with Paul, threatening to get out the ring and settle them there and then.

Despite the hype Paul brought to the event, Mayweather supposedly did not want him to be ringside for his own bout with Deji. It was reported on Twitter by Michael Benson that Paul’s team claimed Mayweather would not fight until ‘The Problem Child’ left the arena, along with other issues that had to be resolved.

“Multiple issues backstage at Floyd Mayweather vs Deji now seemingly resolved with ring walks imminent. Jake Paul’s team stating he’s left ringside by his own choice after Floyd Mayweather refused to walk out until he left. Also a reported gloves dispute now sorted.”

Most Valuable Promotions (Paul’s company) also tweeted, confirmed the news and calling Mayweather vs Deji a sham of a boxing fight.

“Mayweather employee Jona Rechnitz approached Jake Paul ringside and said Floyd would not fight unless Jake left the arena. Jake left the arena so the fans didn’t have to wait any longer. In retrospect maybe Jake should have stayed and saved the fans from that sham of a boxing match.”

Jake Paul took to Instagram to confirm these claims after he decided to leave the event in Dubai so that fans would not have to wait any longer to watch the main event.

“Floyd wouldn’t fight unless I left. Shallow ego.”

It is expected that Jake Paul will be back in action soon, as many are calling for him to face an experienced boxer next. It is possible that it could be Tommy Fury who fits that role.
