Former WBA bantamweight world champion Shannon Courtenay has revealed that she was a part of the celebrities who made up the cast of this season's Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Courtenay hasn't been seen in the boxing ring since her loss to Jamie Mitchell in October 2021. Courtenay came into that bout with a knee injury, leading to many believing that was the full reasoning behind he long lay-off, however, the lay-off would be extended due to her participation in Celebrity SAS.
Courtenay described the experience of being on the show as the hardest things she's ever done, yet was the the most humbling experience in a statement that read: "Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Finally, the news is out! It was the hardest, most horrible thing I've ever done. Yet, it was the most incredible, humbling experience of my life and I loved/hated EVERY second!
"It mentally broke me down then built me back up, and it has completely changed me as a person. I can't wait for you to all see it!! Wonder how far I got?
"Starts 4th Sept 9pm on Channel 4"
Courtenay won her WBA bantamweight title in a sensational bout with the now IBF champion, Ebanie Bridges. Bridges has also participated on Celebrity SAS, but the version in her home country of Australia.
Courtenay is set to return to the ring shortly, as she looks to climb back to the top of the tree in the bantamweight division.
