Floyd Mayweather And Deji Press Conference

Floyd Mayweather’s Advice To Deji Ahead Of Fight

Written by Kerr Ferguson on 5th November 2022.

Floyd Mayweather is having fun and making money, and he’s even mentoring the people he’s facing off against.

This month’s exhibition bout with social media star, Deji, is the latest in a string of money-making shows for the Hall of Fame fighter. Whilst there’s some talk of his professional record (50-0) being put on the line once more before he hangs up the gloves, he’s content with these run outs just now.

At the London presser for the Global Titans event – which saw drama from the Furys – the main event dance partners were respectful, with ‘Money’ Mayweather assuring Deji that he didn’t have to act tough.

“Deji, don’t fall for the banana in the tailpipe. Listen, it’s okay to be a gentleman on the outside and be a killer on the inside. It’s okay. We can carry ourselves like gentlemen out here. I don’t have to say what I’m gonna do. It’s different with different opponents. You know, me and Conor McGregor, we had a ball. Me and Pacquiao was kinda just like me and you. Kinda relaxed, cool. I always check the temperature. You seem like a pretty cool guy, and your brother, he’s a pretty cool guy, and I want you guys to continue to build your following on your social media platforms. You guys are doing a hell of a job.”

As for Deji and what he wants to achieve on that night, he said he would ‘love to land a blow’ on the legendary fighter – and does believe it’s possible. Whatever happens, Mayweather told him that he’s already won.

Remember this, all the cards are stacked against you anyway. But we’ve got to take [our] hat off just for [you] asking for the fight. Just for accepting this. You winning just by doing that alone. So, I’m gonna let you be the tough guy, I’mma sit back and take it easy.”
