Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather will finally fight in the UK in February against reality TV star turned-fighter, Aaron Chalmers.
Mayweather continues to compete in exhibitions since he retired from professional boxing following his 50th victory against Conor McGregor back in 2017.
‘Money’ has competed in multiple exhibitions around the world, with his last outing being in Abu Dhabi when he took on UK YouTuber, Deji. The all-time great has said countless times that if he can still make money from exhibitions, he will continue to compete in them.
Mayweather is regarded as one of, if not, the greatest of all time, as the five-division world champion retired with a perfect record. UK boxing fans clamoured to see ‘Money’ fight on these shores, but it never happened, but he will grace a British ring for the very first time next month.
English Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison was initially pencilled in to be Mayweather’s opponent, but an injury put a stop to that.
Aaron Chalmers is now the man who will stand across the ring from the all-time great on February 25th. Chalmers was a leading character on popular UK reality TV show Geordie Shore. Following his exploits on reality TV, Chalmers switched to MMA, where he competed in promotions BAMMA and Bellator.
Chalmers turned to professional boxing in 2022 under the watchful eye of well-respected British trainer, Adam Booth. Chalmers made his professional debut on the undercard of Nathan Gorman vs Tomas Salek last June, alongside training partner, and now British champion, Josh Kelly. Chalmers defeated Alexander Zeledon on points that night.
With a professional record of 1-0, Chalmers will now face Mayweather in an exhibition bout at the O2 Arena in London on February 25th.
