Undefeated European super bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney (6-0) has been ordered to fight IBF world champion Cherneka Johnson (15-1).
Yesterday, Scotney’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed the news that the IBF had ordered the fight between the Shane McGuigan-trained fighter and Aussie world champion

The current European champion turned pro under the Matchroom banner in 2020, but her debut was delayed due to the pandemic.
Since her pro debut, the Catford fighter has impressed each time we have seen her in the ring and has passed every step up, even picking up the European title last time out defeating Mary Romero on Katie Taylor’s undercard in October.
World honours are in touching distance for Scotney, but she has been mandated to face Australia’s Johnson for the IBF title. Johnson won the IBF back in April, when she bounced back from the only defeat of her career against Shannon O’Connell, before stepping up to super bantamweight to defeat Melissa Esquivel by majority decision.
Johnson has successfully defended this belt once, defeating Susie Ramadan by unanimous decision in October, and it seems Johnson’s next opponent has been found in Scotney.
Following the confirmation of this bout being ordered, DiBella Entertainment announced that they have signed Johnson to an exclusive promotional deal. Scotney’s promoter Eddie Hearn has previously had history with Lou DiBella, so this deal could see purse bids being called.

The Catford fighter looks set to have a shot at the world title that she has been clamouring for but doesn’t face an easy test if her and Johnson meet.
