The new undisputed super lightweight world champion Chantelle Cameron (17-0) has expressed her desire to face Katie Taylor (22-0) in Dublin on St Patrick’s Day.
Cameron picked up the biggest win of her career last weekend, as she defeated Jessica McCaskill to become the undisputed queen at super lightweight. But ‘Il Capo’ has her sights set on fighting one of the greatest female fighters of all time.
Taylor is coming off the back of a successful defence of her undisputed lightweight crown over Karen Carabajal in October. In April, Taylor made history as she was the victor against Amanda Serrano in the first female fight to headline Madison Square Garden. Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn has insisted that the Irish icon will fight in front of 80,000 fans at Croke Park in Dublin next, with the ideal opponent being the Serrano rematch.
Cameron has taken to Twitter to throw her name into the mix, suggesting an undisputed vs undisputed match-up, and ‘Il Capo’ makes it clear that she is more than willing to step into Taylor’s homeland on the most celebrated day in Ireland for the fight, as she tweeted: “March 17th Croke Park Katie Taylor Undisputed v Undisputed If the Serrano rematch don’t happen, I’ll be free.”

Cameron and Taylor both fight under the same promotional banner, meaning that the fight could become easier to make, both women have been pioneers for the rise in female boxing and have done everything they could do in their weight divisions, and we’re sure if these two meet in the ring, we’ll be in for a tremendous fight.
