Carl Froch Names ‘Best Heavyweight In The World’ Who ‘Destroys Anyone’

Written by Libby Baker on 5th December 2022.

Carl Froch has shared his view on Twitter on the best current heavyweight, picking WBC champion, Tyson Fury.

Fury dominated every round against Derek Chisora this week in London, to the point that many fans and pundits were calling for the towel to be thrown in. The referee was forced to stop the contest in round 10 as Chisora, being the warrior he is, was taking too much punishment.

Following the British heavyweight dust up, Froch has had his say on ‘The Gypsy King’, and believes the man from Morecambe cannot be beaten.

“Tyson Fury is absolutely the best heavyweight in the world right now. Whoever you think is number 2, would not even come close to beating him. He’s too big, too strong, too skilful, has complete self belief when he climbs over that top rope and quite simply destroys anyone!!”

Many will agree with Carl Froch about fan-favourite, Fury. The Chisora fight is another win on his undefeated record, however it was never seen to be a tough test and the outcome was to be expected. What the win does do, though, is put Fury in line to fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Post-fight, Fury called out Oleksandr Usyk and told him he would be next. It is expected that this will take place in February or March 2023 and is the clash that will crown an undisputed champion in the division.

The last undisputed heavyweight champion was Lennox Lewis, so this could be Tyson Fury’s chance to cement his legacy in boxing, despite previously stating that he is not interested in doing so.

Fury will need to become the only person to beat the Ukrainian, who defeated former world champion, Anthony Joshua, to win the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles.
