The fight between Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker looked all but dead in the water when Parker opted to sign with BOXXER and Sky Sports. However, the fight has been revived and will take place at the AO Arena in Manchester on September 24th, live on BT Sport Box Office.
Frank Warren confirmed that Joyce will be taking on Parker, as he told the media at the Fury vs Whyte fight. The wheels began rolling towards this heavyweight clash, with a date rumoured to be July 2nd at Wembley Arena. Joyce would be confirmed to compete at the show at Wembley Arena, but no opponent was announced.
On June 11th, BOXXER hosted a show headlined by Richard Riakporhe vs Fabio Turchi, and during the broadcast, promoter Ben Shalom confirmed that Parker had now signed for his promotional banner BOXXER on Sky Sports. Frustration grew from the Joyce camp, and Joyce's promoter Warren was understandably disappointed. Joyce would instead face and defeat the veteran Christian Hammer at the show at Wembley Arena on July 2nd.
However, it has been confirmed today that Joyce and Parker will settle their differences in the ring. The pair will collide on September 24th at the AO Arena in Manchester, live on BT Sport Box Office, in a fight which could propel the winner into a world title shot next.
