World Boxing Super Series Update!

News On The Cruiserweight Final, As Well As The Super-Lightweight AND Bantamweight Tournaments

By Aaron Cooper   - @IntuBoxingFM

If you are anything like me, you would have found the World Boxing Super Series tournaments a breath of fresh air. The removal of the usual rigmarole of promoter and network issues preventing fights from happening is absent, and that is fantastic. The Cruiserweight series, in particular, has been nothing short of amazing, truly the best in the division fighting the best. Although the American contingent of world boxing fans has suffered from a lack of coverage, hopefully, these wrong's can be set right in the next series of tournaments.

Whilst there is no news on when we might see the super-middleweight final. Intuboxing does have news to bring you about the current and future formats of the tournament.

Whilst WBO cruiserweight champion, Oleksander Usyk recovers from injury there has been a lot of talk about where the final should be held. The bout will NOT be in Saudi Arabia as first thought. In fact, Umar Kremlev of the Russian Boxing Federation would like to bring the fight to the coastal resort of Sochi. Sochi already hosts the F1 race every year and has held the winter Olympics in recent times. A final decision will be made on May 20th

It is being strongly rumoured that WBC 'Interim' super-lightweight champion, Regis Prograis will enter the 2018/19 tournament and elect not to face new champion, Jose Ramirez. This may have ramifications for the winner of Josh Taylor/Viktor Postol. As they may not have to wait until a fight between Prograis and Ramirez has taken place.

Lastly, new WBO bantamweight champion, Emmanuel Rodriguez looks set to stay in England until the announcement for the new series of the tournament has been made. It is strongly rumoured that WBA champion, Ryan Burnett & WBO Champion, Zolani Tete have already signed up for the tournament. The worrying thing for one of the champions will be that they have to willingly elect to fight 'The Monster' Naoya Inoue who is also expected to be in the competition
