IntuBoxing has learned that WBC 'interim' junior-welterweight champion, Regis Prograis has confirmed his entry as a participant of the new World Boxing Super Series tournament.

Prograis was chasing a fight with the full WBC titleholder, Jose Ramirez. However, with promoter Bob Arum confirming that his charge will not fight in the tournament and instead fight Danny O'Connor in his first defense. Prograis has elected to enter the tournament where he is expected to be joined by join WBA champion, Kiryl Relikh. Relikh's mandatory challenger, Eduard Troyanovsky, and Ivan Barancyhk.

Interestingly Prograis has confirmed that highly ranked contender, Josh Taylor is expected to join him should he beat Viktor Postol on June 23rd at the SSE Hydro Arena, Glasgow, Scotland.

Taylor and Postol are due to contest in an eliminator for Ramirez' WBC title. But given the platform, the WBSS has provided for bringing global attention and exposure for fighters across the globe. And the fact the IBF title remains vacant and could be entered into the tournament given the names involved. It seems to good an opportunity to pass up.
