We relive the first encounter between Fury and Wilder, and press conferences
We are five days away from the conclusion of the trilogy saga between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. This rivalry has been ongoing for many years. Even before the initial encounter, with both fighters taunting each other in the media. We at Intuboxing are reliving the whole saga before this weekends action, just incase you need to refresh yourselves.
Fury and Wilder discussed a potential fight privately, and their two teams began talks for a fight to take place before the end of 2018. In August 2018, both Wilder and Fury had agreed to fight each other and, with Fury scheduled for the second fight of his comeback against former world title challenger Francesco Pianeta, with Deontay Wilder at ringside. Two days after this contest, BT Sport had Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder sit in a room, and go face to face, which then turned into flames.
The fight was given more magnitude due to the nature of the trash talking in the press conferences, and all of the trash talking has been a tale of mind games between the pair. And below you can see all of the talking before the first fight.
Wilder and Fury fought a split decision draw, meaning Wilder retained his WBC title. The crowd booed at the decision. The fight was full of controversy, with Wilder scoring two knockdowns, with the second being in the twelfth and final round. Many believe that the referee took his time over the count, many think that Fury was given too many chances after the huge left hand to survive. If anything though, the end of the fight set up a huge rematch.
Tyson Fury released a video only yesterday, nearly 3 years after the first fight, which stated that the night before this fight, he went to the bar with a friend and had a beer.
