Immediately Amir Khan's name was brought up ringside.
In his toughest contest to date, Conor Benn faced the experienced professional Samuel Vargas and was defending his WBA Continental championship, for the fourth time. Benn was last seen in action in November, when he defeated Sebastian Formella by unanimous decision. Vargas, comes into the contest following a loss to Vergil Ortiz Jr in July of 2020, and has been in the ring with fantastic champions in Amir Khan, Errol Spence Jr and Danny Garcia
Wow, just wow!! It was supposed to be the toughest challenge of his fledgling career. But Conor Benn blew Samuel Vargas away in less than two minutes!! Benn came straight out of the blocks with the crisp jab that we have become accustomed to seeing in recent fights. A piercing one two caught Vargas attention early, marking him up under the left eye. Conor Benn hasn’t won with an opening round knockout in his five year career. But a barrage of right hands simply annihilated Vargas. To put this into perspective. Vargas has fought Errol Spence Jr, Danny Garcia, Amir Khan and Vergil Ortiz Jr. Yes, he lost every time he stepped up. But none of those world champions, and Ortiz, who many are calling the hottest prospect in boxing right now destroyed Vargas in the way that Conor Benn just did. "Give me Amir Khan. I know he's too busy on reality TV. If he wants it, he can have it. "I can deal with pressure. I can cope with it. I can live with it, no problem. "I'm ready for the top dogs - Shawn Porter, Adrien Broner? "I'm the most rapidly improved fighters globally." Conor Benn What a statement.

The second world title fight of the night, and second women's world title fight was contested between the defending champion Savannah Marshall and Maria Lindberg. The unbeaten Marshall was looking to continue her unbeaten streak and take her wins into double figures for her professional career. Marshall used her distinct height and reach advantage to perfect aplomb and in the second round landed flush on the chin of Lindberg and down went the challenger. Marshall finished the job in the next round and for the first time in her career was stopped. A potential showdown with Claressa Shields could await Marshall, which would pose a test to the undefeated world champion.
It's grudge fight time in the women's division and the world title fight between Shannon Courtenay and Ebanie Bridges.
Despite coming forward and showing grit and bravery through an incredible eye injury, Ebanie Bridges was beaten by a brave Shannon Courtenay who claimed a WBA world title, and immediately dedicated it to her mum.
The build up for the fight had all been about underwear and lingerie, but as soon as the first bell went it was war. Both fighters came forward, throwing huge hands and both had successes, but the more the fight went on the more Courtenay took control, and deservedly took the win.
The second televised fight of the night pitted Kash Farooq taking on Alexander Espinoza, with Espinoza defending his WBC International Silver title he won in his last contest. We saw a real talent emerge in this contest, with Farooq showing great prowess and skill throughout the first few rounds. Espinoza, has been landing some lovely hooks and jabs but has been outworked by the challenger. The fight went the distance with this being a war, Farooq had a cut on the right eye, but overall this has to be one of the better fights to be shown on Sky Sports currently in 2021. Both have worked hard from start to finish, and both will be hurting after a fight like this. The fight went to the scores and the results was 97-93 97-95 97-94 all in favour of Kash Farooq. What a great fight.

In the opening contest of the fight night Nick Campbell made his professional debut against Petr Frohlich. In the second round, Campbell put a flurry of shots together and the referee stopped the contest. Campbell wasn't tested in total, and his team will want to have a quick turnaround and go into another contest as soon as possible.
