The Choice Is Yours AJ!!

Joshua Left To Choose Vegas or The UK

By Aaron Cooper   - @intuboxingfm

If you are anything like me, you've found the AJ/Wilder saga is like pulling teeth, so much so that I'm virtually gurning! But the end could well be in sight.

IntuBoxing has learned that WBC heavyweight champions adviser, Al Haymon has indeed answered the questions posed by Joshua's promoter, Matchroom's Eddie Hearn regarding the American's monstrous $50m dollar offer.

The next move is for the WBA 'Super', IBF and WBO Champion to decide on whether he wants to pursue Wilder's offer which would see him likely make his American debut and fight in Las Vegas or the counter-offer which would see him fight in the UK.

Forgive me but I need to break the fourth wall and address you all as a boxing fan, not the journalist that I am. This is THE biggest fight in boxing, it is for the ultimate prize in all of sports. The Undisputed Heavyweight Championship of the World. At this point, I really couldn't care where the fight took place so long as the fight finally happens. As far as the fight is concerned it would certainly be a bigger spectacle in the UK after all this fight would sell out Wembley Stadium twice over. However, to appeal to a bigger audience and truly make AJ the biggest star in the sport then a fight in front of a packed Vegas crowd on an American TV network in a prime-time viewing slot would certainly be the way to go. Joshua's contract with Showtime is over, but Wilder fights on Showtime so I foresee that they and not fledgling streaming service DZN could be the way to go. Showtime is beginning to lag behind ESPN and HBO with only one of their shows in the top ten most viewed fight cards this year thus far.

There has been talk of Joshua fighting mandatory challenger, Alexander Povetkin in August and then Wilder in December. But that is one hell of a risk, and one dare I say AJ may not be willing to take.
