New Name In Line For Fury Debut. Announcement Expected Saturday

Unbeaten German in pole position

IntuBoxing.com has learned that an announcement for Tyson Fury’s maiden appearance on ESPN is expected over the weekend.

We have learned that the name in the frame comes in the shape of 24-year-old German heavyweight, Tom Schwarz.

IntuBoxing.com had reported earlier this month that a three-man list was put to Team Fury. It appears as though Schwarz was the only man willing to make the call. Oscar Rivas was strongly linked, but nothing failed to materialise.

Fury’s co-promoter, Frank Warren has said earlier this week that Fury would fight a top five ranked contender for his first fight of the year. And, he wasn’t lying. Schwarz is indeed ranked in the top five by the World Boxing Organisation.

Standing at six feet, six inches tall. The young German has an undefeated record. With twenty-four wins, sixteen of which have come inside the scheduled distance. However, a quick scan of his record suggests he has fought no one of note. He holds a fourth round victory over Samir Nebo. Whom David Allen stopped in a single round a fight later. And over Iva Bacurin, who lost to Joe Joyce, Dillian Whyte and Tony Bellew.

This will mark the fourth fight since Fury’s nigh on three year exile from the sport. Fury of course last seen in a thrilling encounter with WBC world heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder in December last year. A fight in which many around the globe thought Fury has done enough to claim the title.
