Will It Be Revenge Or Repeat For Luke Campbell? Also news from FOUR other divisions

Many of you would have already seen the news that IntuBoxing.com broke for you all yesterday evening. But for those of you that did not see here is a quick recap:

  1. Keith Thurman vacated his WBC Welterweight Title. Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia will fight for the vacant belt. Thurman will be automatically made mandatory upon his return.
  2. Dillian Whyte has been ordered to face Luis Ortiz for the second mandatory spot of the governing body. The first is held by Dominic Breazeale.
  3. Mikey Garcia will attempt to unify his WBC Lightweight Title with that of Robert Easter Jr's IBF Title.

Also mandated by the WBC yesterday:

In the light heavyweight division, the winner of Adonis Stevenson vs. Badou Jack will have to take on interim titleholder Oleksandr Gvozdyk next. The two men meet in Montreal next month on May 19th. Should that fight be forced to purse bid the Stevenson-Jack winner would be entitled to 65% of the winning bid, with Gvodyk to get the remaining 35%.

Luke Campbell has been ordered to face the man who handed him his first professional defeat. Campbell will again fight Yvan Mendy in a bout which will make the victor mandatory challenger to the winner to Mikey Garcia's title. Both men are in an open negotiation period to become Garcia’s mandatory challenger. They have until May 27 to come to terms or that fight will head to purse bid.

Hot off the heels off of his dominant victory over Amir Imam last month,WBC Junior Welterweight Champion, Jose Ramirez is still in an open negotiation period with WBC Interim Champion, Regis Prograis. A purse bid has already been scheduled for May 4th. If both fighters are not able to reach a deal by then, each fighter will take a 50% split.

At junior lightweight, WBC Champion, Miguel Berchelt will make a voluntary title defense on June 23rd before having to face his mandatory challenger, Miguel Roman.

Lastly, at bantamweight, after Luis Nery was stripped of his world title for missing weight in his rematch with Shinsuke Yamanaka last month, Nordine Oubaali and Petch Sor Chipatanna have been ordered to fight for the vacant title. They have until Friday to reach terms or that fight will also head to purse bid.

For all the mess the governing body has created in the heavyweight division, it has made up for it with some great fights here!
