Kovalev/Alvarez ... Not without a lawsuit from Marcus Browne!!

Alvarez WILL fight for a world title. But NOT against Adonis Stevenson

A few weeks ago intuboxing.com reported that unbeaten American light-heavyweight contender, Marcus Browne was in line to face WBO Champion, Sergey Kovalev.

However, in a surprising turn of events, it is highly rated challenger, Eleider Alvarez that has signed on the dotted line to face the Russian champion. The fight will take place in July and be aired live on HBO as first stated. New York City's Madison Square Garden was the venue originally touted. But, as of this writing, no formal date or venue has been set.

This news has not been taken lightly by Browne's team and it was reported on Twitter a mere hour ago that he intends to file a lawsuit. But why the sudden change of heart from Kovalev's handlers? Well ...

News has since come to light that Browne has been arrested for not one but two domestic incidents that have involved the mother of his daughter. Once in December and again in March.

Browne is due to appear tomorrow at Staten Island Criminal Court. He’ll face attempted assault and harassment charges stemming from a December 12 incident and criminal mischief, criminal contempt and harassment charges filed after a March 30 incident.

But wait Mr Cooper. Eleider Alvarez? The Eleider Alvarez that seems to have made an absolute fortune in step aside fees from Adonis Stevenson. Yes, ladies and gentleman, this is the very same Eleider Alvarez. Alvarez became the mandatory challenger way back in December 2015. Yet he has fought a staggering FOUR times since then.

It is thought that Alvarez’s manager, Stephane Lepine, did indeed try to arrange YET ANOTHER step-aside agreement that would’ve allowed Alvarez to appear on the Stevenson-Jack undercard and then face the winner. However, it seems the two parties were miles apart in agreeing on financial terms. So work began on the Kovalev/Alvarez fight.

It is widely expected fellow Russian WBA light-heavyweight champion, Dmitry Bivol will appear on the undercard, adding fuel to the fire it will be sooner rather than later we see a battle between two of the three light-heavyweight world champions from the east.
