Jesse Vargas ‘no Khan offer’. Broner rematch close

Jessie Vargas is a man desperate for world title gold!

By Aaron Cooper   - @intuboxingfm

Top level fights in the welterweight division seem hard to come by these days. With Keith Thurman inactive. Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia, Errol Spence Jr and Jeff Horn and Terence Crawford are also otherwise engaged.

But that isn’t stopping Jessie Vargas from plotting his own path to world glory. We last saw Vargas taking on Adrien Broner, in a bout that resulted in a disappointing draw. Although in many quarters the popular opinion is that Vargas shaded a decision in a fight where Broner’s hands were simply not busy enough. But, as IntuBoxing has learned today there is another chapter to tell in that story.

A rematch is close to being signed in a bid to settle their differences, once and for all. BUT, Vargas could be tempted to hop across the Atlantic to take on a certain well known welterweight from Bolton...

"I'm open to facing Khan. If my team are interested then I'm interested and we can make it happen," Vargas said.

"He's thrown my name out a few times but there's been no serious offer or negotiations yet, as I know of.

"I am very grateful for my UK fans and if they're interested in a fight for me, we will do our upmost to pursue it and make it happen, without a doubt.’

For now Vargas has set his sights on the WBC title, left vacant by Keith Thurman and due to be contested over by Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. And, it is likely through Broner he must go to continue his quest for gold. Vargas certainly wasn’t devoid of a few words for ‘The Problem’.

"Anyone who isn't biased would see that I won. I won the first half of the fight easy with no issues, no one can complain about that, I won eight rounds altogether.

"I lost all respect for Broner after we fought and it's now time to settle our score. (Credit Sky Sports).
