Several outlets reporting 2021 clash being finalised
It's a fight that many fans around the world would tune in to, one that captures the imagination - as two former world heavyweight champions Deontay Wilder and the returning Andy Ruiz Jr. are rumoured to be preparing a blockbuster meeting in late 2021.
The 'Bronze Bomber', long time WBC ruler and former unified king Ruiz Jr. - albeit with no succesful defences - are Al Haymon’s top division stars, although neither currently hold any title belts, having lost them to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua respectively. Neither have fought since their respective losses.
But with Ruiz Jr set to face Chris Arreola on April 24th, he has the chance to put himself in front of the American audiences again with a fight he should be winning.

It remains to be seen whether Deontay Wilder will fight again before getting back in with a top contender. Rumours have linked him to the likes of Charles Martin while simultaneously suggesting he could be prepared to wait for his rematch with Fury, potentially blocking the AJ Fury mega fight, although that now looks certain to happen.
Should Ruiz beat Arreola and Wilder win or stay ready, the two would be perfectly matched for a fight that brings the crucial ingredient forward - people paying to see it.
