Fury vs Rivas in the pipeline for ESPN debut?

'The Gypsy King' is set to make his network bow in June

By Aaron Cooper   - @intuboxing

IntuBoxing.com has learned that 'The Gypsy King' Tyson Fury is likely to make his ESPN debut in June. Whilst there is no official word on a venue or location. Is it thought that Fury will head to 'The City of Angels (Los Angeles) in his first fight under the co-promotional banner of Frank Warren's Queensbury Promotions, and Top Rank's Bob Arum.

Fury is well known for going off-piste. So it should really have come as little shock, that whilst we all waited patiently for the announcement of his return bout with WBC world heavywweight champion, Deontay Wilder. Did 'The Gypsy King' announce his multi-fight, multi-million pound deal with Top Rank and ESPN.

So surely this meant we would see a bidding war if a deal couldnt be brokered and purse bids called? Sadly no, the fight we all wanted to see Fury engage in next would not be against Wilder. Leading the boxing world to throw their fair share of shade against a man who only a few months prior had won over the hearts and minds of millions of fight-fans. Wilder/Fury 1 ended in a controversial draw. Though many felt that Fury had done enough to take the decision, despite suffering a knockdown in the ninth. Before doing the unthinkable and gettin up before the referee's count, after being dropped savagley in the final stanza.

Fury has gone onto claim that the boxing world knew he had won, and a rematch was not necessary. This in turn set a series of motions that pushing Dominic Breazeale into a fight with the Tuscaloosa native, and left London's Dillian Whyte out in limbo.

So who is the man to stand across the ring from Fury on the 8th June? Well according to industry sources that man will be Oscar Rivas.

Rivas, a native of Columbia but calls Montreal, Canada home. Is unbeaten in his professional career thus far. With twenty-six wins on his record, eighteen of those wins coming inside the scheduled distance. Rivas announced himself to worldwide audiences in January of this year. Stopping former world title challenger, Bryant Jennings in the final round at the Turning Stone Casino & Resort in Verona. Rivas was ahead on two of the judges cards going into the final round.

Things of course could change. However it is Rivas that has been submitted to Camp Fury for Approval.
