All unifications aren't created equally, but this one we have on tap, is intriguing to say the least. A true boxing fan’s matchup includes contrasting styles and mindsets. Garcia vs. Easter proves to be one of the most exciting fights of 2018.

First, let’s back track to see how we got here. Easter, a gangly 135-pounder with a frame of a middleweight, won the vacant IBF title against Richard Commey in September of 2016. This was a highly contested and controversial split decision where he attained his first world title. In his next two fights, he racked up victories against Cruz and Shafikov.

Easter then bested former WBA Champ, Javier Fortuna. While recording a split decision, he garnered criticism from fans and media alike. Many believe he didn't win the fight and got a gift decision. I felt it could have gone either way but it definitely wasn't one of his best performances.

Bunny has superior size and reach over every opponent he faces but continues to fight like a smaller man giving up is natural GOD given advantages. He is a very busy fighter who consistently lets his hands go. He has a crisp jab and decent power. If he ever decides to fight like a taller man, à la Lewis or Hearns, he will be a nightmare to deal with at the lighter weights.

Garcia is a 4-division world champion. Outside of his layoff, due to promotional issues, he is the model of consistency in and out of the boxing ring. His career has been an elevator ride as he goes up and down in weight in search of big fights and pay days. With unanimous wins of over Lipinets and Broner, at 140lbs Garcia he has decided to stay home at 135lbs.

Mikey is the most even-keeled boxer in the world today and is the model of consistency. I would describe him as an ABC fighter. He doesn't have a glaring strength. He has solid power and solid speed along with textbook fundamentals. His ability to make the opposing fighter fight at his pace is his greatest attribute.

My prediction: I feel Mikey's ability to control distance and jab will secure him the unanimous decision, while Easter will succumb to his urge to fight on the inside. This will negate his 5-inch height and 8-inch reach advantage. Garcia 8-4.
