Enter Marsellos Wilder .. Bombsquad part 2?

WBC Heavyweight Champion, Deontay Wilder's Brother To Enter Professional Boxing

By Aaron Cooper   - @intuboxingfm

Look out world Wilder is coming, Marsellos Wilder that is.

Marsellos, the younger brother of WBC world heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder is about to throw his hat into the professional boxing ring.

Marsellos will be making his professional debut next Friday in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. But what do we know about the younger of the Wilder brothers?

Well, Marsellos actually lacks the amateur experience of his Brother. There are many that seem to forget that Deontay had over 100 amateur fights. Winning the National Golden Gloves tournament as well as the United States Amateur Championship, before capping his amateur career off with a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics. Now Marsellos isn't taking a running jump into professional boxing. He too has had success as an amateur, winning Alabama's Golden Gloves title twice. But it was playing in the NFL that was the younger Wilder's aspiration before boxing. Playing at Wide Receiver Marsellos dreams of playing in the NFL just never came to fruition, as many never do. Every year a mere 256 athletes are selected to play in the NFL out of a recruiting process from 70,000 NCAA football players!

The younger Wilder is four inches smaller than his brother and will fight at the cruiserweight limit of 200 pounds. Like his brother, he too will train out of the same Northport gym.

"My first beatings came from my brother. The first time I ever sparred it was against my brother and he definitely didn't take it lightly", recalled Marsellos. When I was going through that with my brother I asked myself, could I be able to get in the ring and take that kind of beating again? And yea, I could, so I continued on doing it".

Like his brother, Marsellos will be trained by Jay Deas. Deas has been with Wilder his entire career and he thinks that his charge is ready after a brief spell in the amateurs.

"Pro debuts you never know bt Marsellos, the thing that I was most impressed with in his last amateur fight, he was so calm and relaxed," Deas said. "Usually these young guys are just all over the place but Marsellos demonstrated a real calmness, he picked his shots, he made his shots count. I hope to see a continuation of that."

Wilder will be fighting Jalyn Anthony, who is 0-4 at the Alabama Boxing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
