Dubois cool and calm as he blast out Little

DDD Claims English Heavyweight Title, Is Gorman Next?

By Bryan Connolly   - @intuboxing

The heavyweight showdown between the unbeaten prospect Daniel Dubois (7-0) and Tom Little (10-5), was the first title fight of the night promoted by the great Frank Warren and broadcast live on BT Sports.

Little approached this fight talking a good game in the press and media conferences and seemed to rattle the composed and cool Dubois. When both fighters approached referee Terry O'Connor before the first bell you could see and feel the animosity in the ring.

The first round showed that Little had the faster hand speed and the faster body and head movement. But, Dubois took his time and repeatedly used his range well. Easy first round to score and the unbeaten Dubois won it without a doubt.

The second round was more of the same. Dubois was stalking his opponent being calm and throwing shots that he knew was going to land. You can see in his eyes that he's not the quickest but the accuracy is frightening with either hand. Little hits a snapping hook at the very last stages of the round but again easy round for Dubois, who is a class above  Little.

More of the same in the third round. Dubois is staying composed and picking his shots and working out what to do next. Little looked like the previous rounds were starting to take its toll and his hands were dropping. You knew it was only a matter of time before a big punch landed. Dubois' round once again.

37 seconds into round four and Little was on the canvas. A crushing left hook to the body rocked him and surprisingly he bounced up and continued the fight. Little showed a lot of heart. 10-8 round for Dubois.

Little lasted 59 seconds into round five and after another flurry of shots the referee Terry O'Connor waves the contest off.

Dubois moves to a perfect 8-0 and after this performance shows he has class but, where does he go to next?

Nathan Gorman would be an entertaining contest and could be for Gorman's WBC Silver title. Both are undefeated, and the fans would seriously be behind them both.

Or possibly, could it be the Commonwealth Champion, Joe Joyce. Like Gorman, he is undefeated and domestically these two fights are a step up and could pose real threat to "DDD".
