Buatsi calls out Yarde!! "Buatsi is coming for you!"

Fledgling light-heavyweight prospect would fight rival promotions star 175-pounder

The light-heavyweight scene is one of the most competitive divisions in British boxing, on paper at least.

Championed by Callum Johnson, who also holds the Commonwealth crown. The 175-pound division is full of names well known on the domestic scene. But there are problems within the division that make mouth-watering clash unlikely. Perhaps the biggest issue is that many of these top names belong to the same stable. Johnson has his eyes on an IBF title shot. But even so, his close friendship with former champion, Hosea Burton makes a fight between the two unfathomable. Jake Ball and Craig Richards too are Matchroom fighters. Then, of course, we have a giant elephant in the room ... Anthony Yarde.

Yarde's progress in the division has come under a fair share of criticism, some of which is not unwarranted. A 15-0 record with 14 knockouts has seen Yarde ascend the WBO rankings and currently carries the governing bodies #2 spot. But even Yarde himself would admit he is not ready for a world title tilt. This was evidenced by his team rejecting the shot at the IBF title which Callum Johnson eagerly accepted. Yarde’s biggest problem? The majority of his domestic competition sits in a rival stable. One his promoter, Frank Warren NEVER does business with.

That being said, that hasn’t deterred Matchroom’s Joshua Buatsi. Buatsi told Sky Sports he would fight Yarde NEXT if his team were able to secure him a fight with Frank Warren’s man. Now, this may sound a little crazy. But at this stage, both men have fought competition they were expected to beat. While Buatsi is only 6-0 with 4ko’s he possesses amateur experience Yarde can only dream of! You might even give the edge to the Croydon man!

"It's good because the public interest is there, everyone is calling for it. I know that it's one that will captivate and intrigue fans so let's get it on.

We have both been matched well and guided appropriately so far and this would be a great test for us to see where we are really at in our careers. The fans are the ones who would benefit most. These are the match-ups you need in boxing. Ultimately, we will only know what happens once we fight, but all I will say is that the ring reveals the truth - it's very real and different once you're in there, just the two of you."

"Buatsi is coming for you." Buatsi is coming for you.

While unlikely, this is a fight I have a lot of time for!
