Jesse Rodriguez returns to defend his WBC super flyweight title on September 17th
The chief support to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin's monster trilogy bout has been confirmed as boxing's youngest world champion Jesse Rodriguez returns to defend his WBC world super flyweight title against Israel Gonzalez.
Rodriguez sent shockwaves through the boxing world when he defeated Carlos Cuadras in March on short notice to win the WBC super flyweight title at just 22 years old. Rodriguez made a statement in his first defence when he sensationally stopped former world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in eight rounds.
Rodriguez's opponent Gonzalez has three losses on his 33 fight record, and three of those losses came at world level as they were unsuccessful world title challenges.
The monstrous trilogy bout between Canelo and GGG, featuring Rodriguez on the card, takes place at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the same venue that played host to the previous two bouts between the pair. The fight will be broadcast on DAZN PPV in the US, and part of the regular DAZN subscription everywhere else.
