BBBofC have a strict policy on not allowing fighters to use sauna's in attempt to cut weight, however, evidence of sauna use came from Casimero’s own YouTube channel, where he was shown using a sauna to cut weight after arriving in the United Kingdom. The video has now been set to private.
Butler was challenging for Casemiro's WBO world title but now the WBO 'interim' world title will be on the line when he faces Sultan on Friday.
Sultan holds a record of 18-5 coming into this bout, even holding a win over Casemiro on his record. A very respectable replacement on short notice.
ProBellum's full statement regarding the opponent change reads:
Probellum can confirm that it will follow the official rulings of the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) and that Paul Butler will not fight John Riel Casimero for the WBO Bantamweight championship title in Liverpool on Friday, April 22.
Butler will instead take on the challenge of WBO Intercontinental Bantamweight champion Jonas Sultan for the interim world title as mandated by the WBO.
Probellum will await the decision from the WBO Committee in relation to its request for Casimero’s to ‘show cause’ in the next 48 next as to why the title shall not be declared vacant.
