BREAKING: Daniel Dubois KOs Nathan Gorman in 5th Round

'Dynamite' Daniel Dubois has won the British heavyweight title by knocking out rival Nathan Gorman in five rounds.

By Dean Goulding   - @deangoulding

Dubois made a statement to the heavyweight division with a convincing knockout against his domestic rival and stablemate, Nathan Gorman.

In a battle of unbeaten fighters, it was the 21-year-old from Greenwich, London who took home the coveted Lonsdale belt after knocking Gorman out with a hammer of a right hand in the fifth round in a fight he largely dominated throughout.

The fight began with a cagey first round, both fighters looking to feel out their opponent. The second round saw more action, with Dubois cutting Gorman above his left eye in with a powerful right hook as they traded blows.

In the third, Dubois knocked Gorman down with a barrage of right hooks and quickly looked for the finish, but Gorman valiantly fought back with some powerful shots of his own to keep Dubois honest for the remainder of the round.

Dubois began the fourth round by keeping Gorman at distance with some stiff jabs, looking to set up another huge right hand. Gorman answered back with a couple of uppercuts off the ropes, but spent most of the round covering up and absorbing Dubois' thudding punches.

With cousin Tyson Fury watching at ringside, Gorman looked to start the 5th round with more urgency, throwing counters and looping hooks, but Dubois caught him again and sent the Nantwich boxer off balance. Then, with 30 seconds left in the round, Dubois landed yet another clubbing right hand, set up with a textbook double jab, that sent Gorman down to the canvas for the second and final time. Gorman climbed off the canvas again, but failed to beat the referee's count.

More to follow.
